“Engaging” is a title granted by the listener.

what makes a great presentation or lesson?

Presenters who achieve massive success with audiences know how to self-manage themselves in ways that others don't. They know how to get engagement, get trust, and get buy-in. And they know how to do this in a variety of group dynamics to a very high degree.

How I coach

Many people spend their prep time working on their slide deck, handouts, or other logistics. But communication or instruction that has high impact requires more than materials. A great speaker knows how to use their body and voice to elicit dozens, hundreds, even thousands of eyes and ears to sustain focus. Before we get to our slides, we need to get into our skills.

what’s it take to present or instruct better?

Moving from “what works with friends” to “what works with strangers (or challenging students)” requires understanding how to employ specific skills designed to capture and sustain attention. Anyone willing to get better, can.
